Dad on vacation. Grilling in the backyard. Carrying the dog that doesn’t want to swim on his shoulders across the river while backpacking. Helping reel in a fish. Pulling the family together when the RV breaks down.

Teaching how to set up the tent for camping. Not asking for directions and making the hike two hours longer than it needed to be. But also making sure the experience instills positive memories and life lessons.

It’s an archetypal image. Humorous at times, but also be touching as Dad shares stories and wisdom with us and encourages our travel itch.

Our team shares some of their favorite photos and memories from traveling with Dad

1. Samantha Scott, Content Marketing Manager

My brother and I had just learned to waterski the year before. My dad spent all day in the water, determined that we and our two cousins would all get up on the skis. We did!

But literally. My dad was floating with a life jacket coaching the four of us ALL DAY.

Here is me and my dad in Red River, New Mexico where my great uncle has a cabin. The cabin was built completely by hand by my great grandfather in the mid-50s. He and his brother did everything from cutting the trees to collect wood, clearing a path for the road, and putting everything together - 10,000 feet up on the side of a huge mountain!

If I'm in the US for the summer we try to drive up for a visit. Since there is no snow in the summer the town turns the ski lifts into a ride during the afternoons. As a kid it was one of my favorite things to do, I always thought it counted as me being able to fly.

I also think my dad might be mocking my smile here.

4. Angela - Content Marketing Intern

This is one of our many family trips to Florida. We would spend hours on the beach every day, playing in the water with my dad and always laughing.

5. Misha - Designer

My Mom, Dad, and I circa 1998 at the Kutztown Folk Festival in PA!

I think my dad looks pretty iconic in this picture, and the memory is special to me because my family has been going to the Kutztown Folk Festival since before I was even born, and we still go to this day! It's full of local artists and crafts, small rides and games, and classic Pennsylvania-German food.

There's also a tradition of reenacting the hanging of Susanna Cox, who was sentenced to death for killing her baby in 1809 - and yes I've been watching the reenactment since I was 2 (my family is a little dark and twisty).

Happy Father's Day Dad!
