Description |
If you do only one hike in the Alps, make sure the Tour de France Mont Blanc is the one! Our TMB Express combines all of the essentials for an unforgettable journey—experienced local guides, a customized itinerary, remarkable alpine scenery, authentic mountain inns and elegant hotels. Your tour of Mont Blanc will circumnavigate the highest peak in the western Alps. This is a journey through France, Italy, and Switzerland and into three unique cultures. Children are more than welcome, making this the ideal family journey. |
Day 1: Arrival Day
Welcome, Trip Briefing and dinner in Chamonix.
Day 2: Lac Blanc
A day-hike up to Lac Blanc, which is an integral part of the TMB, famous for its views of the Mont Blanc Range. Lunch at the Lac Blanc refuge, followed by fresh fruit tart and coffee.
A warm-up day that enables us to check the gear and make sure that everything works.
Day 3: Les Chapieux
A quick transfer to Les Contamines, followed by a hike up to the Col du Bonhomme and its refuge of the same name for a picnic lunch, or a hot soup/salad combo. Freshly energized, the descend to the little hamlet of Les Chapieux awaits us, in the heart of the famous cheese-making region of the Beaufort, the Queen of the Gruyère cheeses.
Day 4: Courmayeur
After a visit to a little cheese-making cooperative on the way, and the purchase of some cheese for our lunch picnic, we say good-bye to France, and hello to Italy. Over the Col de la Seigne leads our way to the Rifugio Elisabetta for a well deserved italian coffee! A moderate walk to the Lac Combal follows, and from there it’s a quick transfer to Courmayeur, the mountaineering capital of the Italian Alps.
Gourmet pizza dinner in an authentic restaurant awaits us, followed by Italian Gelato!
Day 5: Champex-Lac
Explore Courmayeur and have a last espresso before we transfer to Arnuva, and hike from the Italian Val Ferret into the Swiss one. This is a gentler day. Again, we have time to have an afternoon snack at La Peule, where Nicolas and his wife produce an excellent Raclette cheese, that is also lovely to eat cold, with freshly baked bread.
Our driver awaits, and we carry on to Champex-Lac to our lakeside hotel.
Day 6: Trient/Forclaz
We stay in Switzerland, and hike either over the Fenêtre d’Arpette or along the Bovine Trail from Champex-Lac to Trient.
Day 7: Chamonix
The circle completes, and we will finish where we started, in Chamonix in the French Alps, for a much deserved drink, and later on our farewell dinner in one of the nice restaurants in Chamonix.
Day 8: Departure Day
Depart at your own leisure from Chamonix.
