Description

Pikey Peak is one of the famous vantage points to see the panoramic view including Mount Everest and other mountains in Nepal. From this vantage point, one can see the best sunrise and sunset panoramic view of Everest and more Himalayas range with the deep green valleys.

Pikey peak was a seasonal snowy hill where local Sherpa people go for short hiking trips and to hang the prayer flag on the top.  The Pikey named from the name of local Sherpa deity it represents the sky over nature. During the monsoon time, June/July local people Sherpa people worship their god and perform the ceremony by Buddhist Lama and group of Monks.

Itinerary: 10 Days - Pikey Peak Trek

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu, Nepal

Accommodation: Overnight in Yatri Suites and Spa or similar

Welcome to Kathmandu Nepal.

Asian Heritage Treks & Travel Representative welcome you at the Airport with your nameplate. After Arrival at Nepal airport transfer you to the hotel. On the way Airport to Hotel, you will pass by the Open cremation Place (Pashupatinath temple), Royal Palace Museum i.e. Narayanhity, Garden Of Dream and reach the Thamel. Your hotel will be in downtown of Touristic Hub. Our representative will facilitate you and discuss your travel itinerary. There will be enough time to stroll through the street of Thamel.

Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley - Kathmandu Durbar Square - Swyambhunath stupa - Pashupatinath Temple - Boudhanath Stupa

Accommodation: Overnight in Yatri Suites and Spa or similar

After Breakfast Our tour guide will come to pick you up along with the driver and vehicle. Firstly you will be visiting the UNESCO world heritage site Kathmandu Durbar Square where you can observe the typical wood-carved temples and buildings reflecting the ancient Kathmandu city.

After then we will be heading towards Swyambhunath- the monkey temple where you can observe the panoramic view of Kathmandu city and the Himalaya ranges from here. After that you will be visiting the Pashupatinath Temple, one of the biggest pilgrimage site for the Hindu religion people in south-east Asia, explore the surroundings and you can observe the ritual body cremating ceremony process of the Hindu people at the bank of holy Bagmati river and then visit another pilgrimage site nearby to the Pashupatinath Temple known as Guweyswori Temple, explore the surroundings and then you will go to visit the another UNESCO world heritage site Boudhanath Stupa. It was built in 600 A.D.

It is the only one of a kind of stupa reflecting Buddhism in the world. Explore the surroundings of Boudhanath Stupa and after completing your sightseeing get back to the hotel and rest.

Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Dhap (2900 m), Driving Duration: 7 hours

Accommodation: Overnight in best available local lodge

In the early morning, our guide will pick you from your hotel and then drive to Dhap. The road follows the Sun Koshi river which then merges with the Tama Koshi river to form another Koshi river until reaching Ghurmi. We pass many settlements and bazaar along the way. On reaching Dhap, you can explore the local bazaar and observe the lifestyle of locals.

Day 4: Dhap to Jhapre (2830 m) via Sigane, Hiking Duration: 4 hours

Accommodation: Overnight in best available local lodge

Today, we start our trek as we walk along the dusty roads leading to Sigane. Walking along the dusty road for some time, we reach Jhapre. Jhapre is famous for its vantage point to view the mountains like Mt. Everest and the NumburHimal. You can also visit the stupas and monasteries.

Day 5: Jhapre to Pikey Peak Base (3600 m), Hiking Duration: 5 hours

Accommodation: Overnight in best available local lodge

Enjoy the sunrise view from Jhapre as the first golden rays of the sun falling on the silver lining of snow-capped mountains. Then, continuing our trek along the trail for some time, we reach Bhulbule. The trail then becomes steep and climbing through the rhododendron forests and small settlement areas of Lhamuje.

Crossing the Lhamuje, the trails open out to yak grazing pasture and then cross a long Mani wall followed by a climb along the winding road to Pikey Base Camp. In Pikey Base Camp, you can visit the Yak Cheese Factory and can enjoy the magnificent views of the Himalayas surrounding the valley.

Day 6: Hike to Pikey Peak (4065 m) & back to Junbeshi (2390 m), Hiking Duration: 6 hours

Accommodation: Overnight in best available local lodge

In the early morning, hike to Pikey Peak to enjoy the glorious sunrise over the Himalayas such as Mt. Everest (8848 m), NumburChuli (6959 m), Thamserku (6608 m), Kangtega (6685 m), Khatang (6853 m), Kanchenjunga (8586 m), Manaslu (8163 m), Gaurishankar (713 4m), DorjeLakpa (6966m) and Langtang. After enjoying the view, return to Pikey Peak Base Camp and from there, hike down to Junbesi followed by the descent to Lamjura. Crossing many Mani walls and Chortens on our way we will reach Junbesi.

Day 7: Junbeshi to Salleri (2360 m), Hiking Duration: 4/5 hours

Accommodation: Overnight in best available local lodge

Junbeshi is a typical Sherpa village. Here, you can experience the Sherpa culture and visit the popular Monastery. Later, we leave Junbeshi village and pass through the prayer flags and prayer wheels with carving mantra stones walls. On reaching Salleri, you can rest at the lodge or hike to Phaplu to visit the famous Tibetan monastery.

Day 8: Salleri to Kathmandu, Driving Duration: 8/9 hours

Accommodation: Overnight in Yatri Suites and Spa or similar

You will drive Salleri to Kathmandu. On the way, you can see the beautiful hills and slopes. Later, you can stroll through the streets of Thamel for shopping. You can also buy souvenirs for your friends and family.

Day 9: Sightseeing tour around Patan and Bhaktapur

Accommodation: Overnight in Yatri Suites and Spa or similar

Today, our guide will receive you and then drive you to Patan. You’ll be driven to one of the ancient cities inside Kathmandu valley i.e. Patan Durbar Square for sightseeing. In Patan, you will be visiting other UNESCO World Heritage sites: Krishna Temple and Patan Durbar Square. Later on, visit the Patan Museum, where you can learn more about the history of Patan and the kings who reigned here.

Later, visit the Golden Temple, a major attraction for both Hindu and Buddhist people, and Banglamukhi Temple. Then after we will be visiting Bhaktapur, you will be amazed by the architecture, as until today the city has been able to be kept intact in its old form. You can observe the old wood carved buildings all around Bhaktapur.

Explore the surroundings and afterwards visit the Nyatapola Temple, one of the biggest temples in Nepal. Here, you can also take the pottery making class using the traditional methods. You will visit the Pottery Square. Here, you can also take the pottery making class using the traditional methods. You will be taught to design your own pot and once you have your basic shape hammered out, you can even choose to adorn your creation with beautiful patterns and inscriptions.

Day 10: Departure

Your trip will come to an end today. You will be advised and assisted with your onward travel arrangements and transfer to Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport by our private van around 3 hours before your flight schedule and flight back to your home/other travel destination.
