Serengeti is well known for the Great Wildebeest Migration in the northern part toward the Mara River. It is an unforgettable adventure to have a chance see all animals migrate in a clockwise circle every year. If you also want to spot all the Big Five animals (lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, and buffalo) all in one park, the Serengeti is the place to be. |
Day 1: Arusha / Tarangire National Park
Upon arrival in Arusha, you are met and driven to Tarangire National Park, a interesting and beautiful trip of approximately two hours.
Game viewing begins even before you enter the park, but once inside the area's abundance of game reveals itself fully. After a picnic lunch, take a leisurely game drive to your camp - a journey of roughly 2-3 hours depending on the wildlife along the way.
Days 2-3: Tarangire National Park
You are woken before dawn and enjoy a light breakfast before your morning's drive. This can extend into the early afternoon, depending on what you have seen. You will be searching through the beautiful mix of woodland and plain, viewing the plentiful general game and potentially chancing upon predators such as leopard, lion and cheetah.
You will return to camp for lunch and a shorter late afternoon drive or perhaps pack a picnic if you would like to explore some of the more remote reaches of the park.
Day 4: Tarangire National Park / Ngorongoro Crater
The morning's game drive takes you out of Tarangire and towards the Ngorongoro Highlands to the west. Drive for two hours through vibrant villages and communities before climbing up the escarpment of the great rift valley. Take in superb views of Lake Manyara before entering the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
From the park gate it is a short 20 minute drive to the rim of the crater and a further 20 minutes to your lodge. You should arrive in time for a late lunch and an afternoon game drive down onto the crater floor.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater
Head down into the crater for an extended game drive. Scenically spectacular, the crater's wildlife is abundant and contained. There is never a moment when a large mammal is out of sight and with large flocks of flamingos generally establishing themselves in Lake Magadi it creates the quintessential East African safari experience. There is good potential to witness some of the wildlife interacting - either as predator and prey, or as competitors.
Enjoy a picnic brunch before continuing your quest for more wildlife and return to your lodge in the mid-afternoon.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater / Serengeti National Park
After breakfast you are transferred by vehicle to Manyara Airstrip, a drive of approximately one hour, where you connect with a light plane to take you into the northern Serengeti.
This flight is also approximately one hour. It is a spectacular flight which gives a wonderful understanding of the scale of the Serengeti eco-system.
Days 7-8: Serengeti National Park
Epic's preferred area of the Serengeti is well north of the busy central areas of the park. It offers a safari experience likened to the Serengeti of 30 years ago; very few tourists. The savannah of the Serengeti transitions into the grassland of the Mara and is effectively the Masai Mara without the crowds.
Activities include drives, walk and visits to the local Gibaso Village. One of the great benefits of this area is that off-road driving can be undertaken enabling one to get close to game.
Day 9: Serengeti National Park / Arusha
This morning you enjoy a leisurely breakfast followed by a game drive to the airstrip.
Here you connect with your flight back to Arusha and continue your journey.
Day 1: Drive from Arusha Town to Tarangire National Park
After briefing about your Safari, you will drive to Tarangire National Park with packed lunch, this drive takes 2 hours.
Day 2 – 3: Drive From Tarangire to Serengeti National Park
Early morning after breakfast, you will depart from Campsite and we will proceed to Serengeti National Park, via the beautiful farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Day 4: Drive from Serengeti to Ngorongoro Area
You will take packed lunch for an early morning game drive between 08:00 – 14:30 hrs. Then, will drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater Tour – Arusha Town
After an early breakfast, you will drop over 600 meters into the crater for a full day game drive.
