Do you dream of postcard-worthy sunsets and historic ruins? What about delicious Mediterranean cuisine and a bright blue ocean? We have one word for you: Greece! Begin your 6-night Grecian adventure in the capital of Athens, home of Socrates and Plato. On an included tour, see the highlights of this ancient yet modern city: Syntagma Square, Hadrian's Arch, and of course the Acropolis. Once you've seen the historical gems of Athens, head to the charming Plaka neighborhood for a souvlaki and a stroll. Leave Athens and take a ferry to the most iconic of Greece's islands: Santorini! Yes, this volcanic island is as beautiful in real life as it is on your desktop. From charming Oia and its cobbled streets to those jaw-dropping sunset, Santorini will wrap you in a warm embrace and leave a lifelong impression. Please note: While it's less crowded with tourists, November to March can be quiet on the Greek islands and not all establishments will be open during this time. |
Discover Athens and ancient Acropolis, travel to the UNESCO-listed Meteora monasteries, sail to most beautiful Cyclades Islands of Santorini and Mykonos. Hike to the crater of an active volcano on Santorini and see a spectacular sunset in Oia. Party on Mykonos and explore amazing small villages and turquoise beaches. |
Day 1 Welcome to Athens!
Welcome to Greece's historic capital of Athens! Once you arrive and settle into your hotel, start exploring the city by foot. Since 2004, the 2.5-mile long Archaeological Promenade at the foot of the Acropolis has made the city center much more walkable and reduced the notorious traffic congestion.
Day 2 Athens
Today, enjoy a half-day tour taking you to the famous Acropolis and its sister museum housing the archaeological findings uncovered from the Acropolis. After your tour, visit the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, a stone theater structure located at the base of the Acropolis. The theater was built during Roman times around 161 A.D. by the Roman philosopher, teacher and politician Herodes Atticus in memory of his late wife. Live performances are still held there today. At night, head to the charming neighborhood of Plaka for a traditional Greek meal of moussaka, a mediterranean casserole layered with ground meat, bechamel, eggplant and potatoes.
Day 3 Athens - Santorini
In the morning, head to Piraeus port in Athens for your approximately 8-hour ferry to Santorini, known worldwide as the most romantic of the Greek Islands. The remainder of your day is at your leisure to discover the volcanic island. As part of the Cyclades, Santorini sits between Athens and Crete in the shape of a crescent.
Day 4 Santorini
Wake up to the peaceful Mediterranean Sea today - it's your first full day in Santorini! Let your journey begin in the traditional village of Oia, the most photographed place in Greece and famous for its breathtaking sunsets. Take your time to explore this enchanting village. Small white houses line the hillside, interspersed by splashes of rich okra, deep fuchsia, cobalt blue, oyster pink and earthy red.
Day 5 Santorini
Explore Santorini's bustling capital of Fira today! Visit the Prehistoric Museum that hosts artifacts from the sites of Akrotiri and Ancient Thira, including the famous wall paintings, or discover the colorful beaches created by the volcanic eruption. Before sunset, head north to Firostefani and Imerovigli along the caldera-edge pathway for spectacular views as the sun dips over the Mediterranean Sea.
Day 6 Santorini - Athens
Say goodbye to Santorini as you head to the port for your ferry back to Athens. After dropping your bags at your hotel, spend your last night in Greece with an alfresco meal in charming Plaka and a stroll through the lively Monastiraki Square.
Day 7 Depart Greece
It's time to say goodbye to Greece. At the appropriate time, you'll be transferred to Athens airport for your flight home.
