This 328,000 ha (3,280 sq km) Natural World Heritage Site stretches for 280 km along the northern part of South Africa's east coast. There are two species of animals that one can see on the western shores of iSimangaliso that you will not see on the eastern shores, namely Nyala antelope and the giraffe. The elephant of iSimangaliso wetland park spend 90 percent of their time on the western shores of the park. So this is where you have the best chance of seeing the elephant when staying in St. Lucia.
