Your adventure starts in the capital city of Athens, where you'll explore at your leisure, as well as enjoy a tour of some of the must-see sites, from the Acropolis to the Pantheon. After two nights enjoying at your own pace, embark on a 4-day escorted tour to some of Greece's most iconic destinations; visit the former home of Delphi's famous oracle to the breathtaking monasteries at Meteora, which sit perched on huge granite rocks. You'll even visit the site of the ancient Olympic games on this gold medal-worthy getaway.

Itinerary: Classical Greece

Day 1 Welcome to Athens!

Arrive at Athens Airport and enjoy a transfer to your accommodation. Why not celebrate your first night in Greece by sampling all the local flavors?

Indulge in a platter of cheese from each island and region, or treat yourself to some freshly-baked pita bread with a selection of locally-produced olive oil. Don't forget to wash it down with a glass of Retsina, Greece's specialty white wine,

Day 2 Athens

Embark on your sightseeing tour of the ancient city!

After the tour, enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Take a stroll through the Plaka district, located under the Acropolis. Here, you can see the Greek capital as it was over 100 years ago!

Day 3 Athens - Olympia

Your 4-day escorted tour of classical Greece begins today! Leave Athens by the scenic coastal road, then make a short photo stop at the Corinth Canal, one of the 19th Century world’s engineering masterpieces; the canal's history dates as far back as 602 B.C.!

Continue to Epidaurus, home to the famous 4th century B.C. theater with its astonishing acoustics. Up next you'll explore the town of Nafplion, a modern seaside resort with an old town dominated by the mighty Palamidi Fortress.

The last stop of the day is Mycenae, the Homeric city of Atreides, the city "rich in gold" of the ancient poets. You'll see the famous Lion's Gate, the Cyclopean Walls, and the Royal Tombs. Depart for Olympia through Central Peloponnese, Tripoli, and Megalopoli.

Day 4 Olympia - Delphi

Indulge during breakfast today, because you're visiting the site of the ancient Olympic games: Olympia! See an ancient sanctuary at the Temple of Olympian Zeus, then explore the Archaeological Museum of Olympia, which hosts important treasures such as the famous statue of Praxiteles, Hermes.

Continue through Achaia and Rio - Antirio towards Delphi, passing through the picturesque towns of Nafpaktos and Itea.

Day 5 Delphi - Kalambaka

Enjoy your breakfast and depart for your tour to Delphi, located on the slopes of Mount Parnasus and once believed as the center of the earth!

Visit the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios, once home to a legendary oracle who was under the influence of the ancient god Apollo. Then, explore the Treasury of the Athenians and the Delphi Museum, where you stare into the eyes of the famous bronze charioteer, among other works.

Day 6 Kalambaka - Athens

After breakfast embark on an adventure to monastaries hidden away in the mountains of Meteora. Perched on huge granite rocks, the monasteries seem to suspend between earth and sky, providing a magnificent view.

Each monastery contains priceless historical and religious treasures, from painted wonders to sacred sculptures. Enjoy your lunch at a local restaurant in Kalambaka (not included), before returning to Athens bypassing Trikala, Lamia, and Thermopylae.

Day 7 Depart Greece

After breakfast, enjoy one final transfer to Athens Airport for your flight home.
