What is to do while I am in Mongolia?

  •  keep your hat on when entering a ger, if you are wearing one, but lift it as a sign of greeting
  •  receive things with the right hand or both hands and ensure that your sleeves are rolled down
  •  ensure you remove your gloves when shaking hands, if you are wearing them
  •  walk inside the ger in a clockwise direction
  •  receive food, a gift, or anything similar from a Mongolian with both hands or with the right hand supported at the wrist or elbow
  •  take at least a sip or nibble of the delicacies offered
  •  pick up things with an open hand, with your palm facing upwards

What is do not things while I am in Mongolia?

  •  let a post or fence come between you if you are walking with Mongolians
  •  whistle inside a ger or house belonging to a Mongolian
  •  let your feet point in the direction of the altar (which will be on the north side, opposite the door) when sitting in a ger
  •  let people walk over your outstretched legs
  •  tread on the threshold of the ger when you walk over it
  •  lean against a support column, furniture, or wall of a ger
  •  stamp out a fire or put water or any rubbish on it; fire is sacred
  •  walk in front of an older person
  •  turn your back to the altar and religious objects at the back of the ger
  •  touch other people’s hats
  •  have long conversations in your own language in front of hosts who don’t understand

Day 1-4: Tour of Ulaanbaatar | Naadam Games

Meals: 3 Breakfast, 3 Lunch, 4 Dinner

Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, capital of Mongolia, and enjoy a three-night stay as you take in the city’s sites. Visit Gandan Monastery, the seat of Buddhist activity in the region, or experience Gorkhi-Terelj National Park’s beautiful scenery and a visit to a nomadic family. The Naadam Games of Ulaanbaatar, a two-day event, are the highlight of your time in the city. Board the Golden Eagle Luxury Train at night and settle into your journey.

Day 5-6: Ulan Ude | Lake Baikal

Meals: 2 Breakfast, 2 Lunch, 2 Dinner

The next day arrive in Ulan Ude, capital of the Buryat Republic, and explore its ethnic and cultural diversity. Tour the Old Believers’ Village, experience the culture and history of these deeply religious people, and enjoy a concert featuring local traditions and folk singing. The next day enjoy activities in and around Lake Baikal. Explore the wonderful atmosphere of the lake, take a short boat ride, and discovering its picturesque town Listvyanka. Enjoy a full second day at Lake Baikal. Cruise the reflective lake and relax at a traditional Russian banya (sauna). Steam haulage for the Golden Eagle train will be provided for the journey along the shores of the lake.

Day 7-8: Irkutsk | Onboard the Golden Eagle Luxury, Trans-Siberian Railway

Meals: 2 Breakfast, 2 Lunch, 2 Dinner

A tour of the city of Irkutsk includes the Volkonsky House Museum, dedicated to the memory of aristocrats exiled here after the failed Decembrist uprising of 1825, and a visit to a traditional Russian Dacha (summer house). After dinner, the train continues to travel through the landscapes of Siberia’s mountains, crystal-clear rivers and verdant slopes. The following day enjoy lively conversation with your fellow passengers or learn a few more words in Russian as you unwind on the way to Novosibirsk.

Day 9-10: Novosibirsk | Yekaterinburg

Meals: 2 Breakfast, 2 Lunch, 2 Dinner

The following day pull into the Novosibirsk station, Siberia’s largest city, and experience the famed arts and sciences of the city on the mighty Ob River. Discover the imposing Opera House, one of the largest in the world, or the Railway Museum which houses carriages of the Tsars. Next, the capital of the Ural Mountains and the border between Asia and Europe – Yekaterinburg – is the site of a varied and somewhat tragic history. The city tour includes the center, restored in 2009, and the newly-erected Cathedral-on-the-blood – built in memorial of the last Tsar of Russia, Nicholas II, and his family.

Day 11-12: Kazan | Moscow

Meals: 2 Breakfast,  Lunch,2 Dinner

Arrive in Kazan, the old Tatar capital on the banks of the Volga, and take a guided tour of the Kremlin to learn about the bloody relations of the Tatars, Cossacks, and Russians. The next morning you reach Moscow, one of the richest and most dynamic cities in the world. After your arrival and check-in at a hotel, stroll the famous Red Square and Metro stations. A tour of one of the oldest Kremlin in the world and its glorious cathedrals follows, along with an optional visit to Sergiev Posad – home to one of the most beautiful monasteries in Russia – before you depart for home the following day.

Day 13: Departure

Following breakfast, you will be transferred to Moscow Airport to begin your journey home. Why not extend your stay in Moscow with additional nights to explore more of the city at your leisure or have  time to take in a performance at the world--­renowned Bolshoi Theatre ? Tickets need to be pre-­‐booked and are subject to schedule and availability.

Itinerary: Naadam festival tour

Day 1 /July 10/: Meeting day

Our guide will meet you at airport upon your arrival in Ulaanbaatar city/capital of Mongolia/ and take you to the hotel you stay. Free at leisure for the rest of the day. Prepare yourself; on the most of days of this tour, we'll spend a several hours on the road. Note: the camera with full battery, torch, and other stuffs/suitable clothing for horse/camel riding/.

Day 2 (July 11): Naadam festival opening ceremony

After breakfast you will see naadam's opening ceremony and all day long at the stadium for the festival.

Naadam is held in during from July 11–13 annual, in the National Sports Stadium. Naadam begins with an celaborate introduction ceremony, featuring dancers, athletes, horse riders, and musicians. After the ceremony, the competitions begin. The competitions are mainly horseback riding. Naadam is the most widely watched festival among Mongols, and is believed to have existed for centuries in one fashion or another. Naadam has its origin in the activities, such as military parades and sporting competitions such as archery, horse riding and wrestling, that followed the celebration of various occasions, including weddings or spiritual gatherings. It later served as a way to train soldiers for battle. Now it formally commemorates the 1921 Revolution when Mongolia declared itself a free country. Naadam also celebrates the achievement of the new state. Naadam was celebrated as a Buddhist/shaman holiday until secularization in the 1930s. The three sports are called "Eriin 3 naadam" which is called three games of man in English. Genghis Khan's nine horse tails, representing the nine tribes of the Mongols, are still ceremonially transported from Sukhbaatar Square to the Stadium to open the Naadam festivities.

Day 3 (July 12): This morning we drive to Khui doloon khudag and see horse race.

Then in the afternoon we will explore Terelj National park and Genghis khan statue. After exploring Terel NP we will back to Ulaanbaatar in the evening.

Terelj National Park located 75 km on the side, on the way you will explore Ovoo-the pile of sacred stones, according to the local legend, espirit of nature dwells in the heaped Rocks which was set for god of nature and blue sky. Terelj National Park is Mongolian's best known national park for good reason, it was created in 1965, popular among the Mongolians for its magnificent granite rocky hills, rock formation especielly Turtle Rock and the green forests.On the way to park you will visit to Biggest Equestrian Statue in the world.

Day 4 (July 13): Today we will fly to the Gobi and drive to great Yol Valley.

Yoliin am /Yol valley/

Yoliin Am is located 45km from province of Dalanzadgad. Altitude is 2800m from sea level. This is one of the best places to encounter wild animals and wander through the majestic canyons. This is the deep and narrow canyon in the Gobi GurvanSaikhan /Gobi three beauty / mountains. In the narrowest valley is named after Lammergeyer, which is called Yol in Mongolian. The Lammergeyer is old world Vulture. In there you can see 1-1.5m tick ice in the middle of gorges where it barely gets sunshine during summer time and the sky looks pretty narrow line between canyons.

Day 5 (July 14): Yol valley to Khongor sand dune

After breakfast We will drive approximately 4-5 hours by comfort 4WD vehicle to the Khongor sand dune.

After having a breakfast, we will be heading to the Khongor Sand Dunes situated around 120 km from Yoliin Am. Often called as the singing dunes and surrounded with massive mountains. The site is amazing. Khongor Sand Dunes are some of the largest and most spectacular sand dunes in Mongolia. Reaching to the top of sand hill will be exhausting and around 40 minutes to one hour. but the views of the desert from the singing dune are breathtaking. The sand dunes are a great place for riding camel so we take camel ride there. May stay overnight in the tent if weather is fine.

Day 6 (July 15):This morning we head to Bayan zag /Flaming Cliffs/

Bayan zag

Bayanzag, which means ‘rich in saxaul shrubs’, is more commonly known as the ‘Flaming Cliffs’, a name penned by the paleontologist Roy Chapman Andrews. First excavated in 1922, it is best-known worldwide for the number of dinosaur bones and eggs found in the area, which you can see in museums around the world. Even if you are not a ‘dienophile’, the beauty of the surrounding landscape is a good reason to visit. It’s a classic desert of rock, red sands, scrub, sun and awesome emptiness. Bayanzag is around 90km from Dalanzadgad. Stay overnight may in the tent if the weather is fine

Day 7 (July 16): Back to Ulaanbaatar.

Today we will fly back to Ulaanbaatar leaving great Gobi. All you have to do is to sit back, relax and enjoy your journee. This day is for return to homeland and shopping for cashmere and souvenirs.

Day 8: Departure
