Itinerary: Eastern Canada

Day 1: Welcome to Montreal

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

Welcome to Montréal! This afternoon, we’ll check into the Le Novel Hotel & Spa for a relaxing night’s stay. After we take time to relax and freshen up, we’ll gather for a planned welcome dinner this evening before enjoying a luminous experience of AURA at the Notre-Dame Basilica! The experience begins with a path of lights, revealing the Basilica’s wealth of exquisite works along with orchestral music and grandiose architecture combine to create a unique, three-act multimedia spectacle.

Day 2: Tour of Montreal, Notre Dame Basilica & Mount-Royal

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

This morning after breakfast, we’ll depart with our professional local Tour Guide for a guided touring Montreal. Highlights of the tour include Old Montreal, Mount Royal with a visit to St. Joseph’s Oratory. Following the tour, enjoy an independent lunch in Old Town Montreal before we depart for Quebec City! Québec is the only fortified city in North America north of Mexico. We’ll arrive to Quebec and check into the Palace Royal hotel for a relaxing two-night stay. Take some time to relax and freshen up before enjoying a gastronomique dinner in the Old City.

Day 3: Quebec City, Saint Anne de Beaupre & Montmorency Falls

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner Cruise

Enjoy breakfast before meeting our local Tour Guide and embarking on a wonderful tour of Quebec City. Discover beautiful cityscapes and see how Québec’s defenses developed under the French and English regimes. Cannons, loopholes, the Esplanade Powder Magazine, a star-shaped Citadel, Artillery Park, and fortresses are all part of this outstanding tour! Following the tour, enjoy free time for an independent lunch and browsing the Old City. This afternoon, enjoy touring the Beaupre Coast along the Saint Lawrence River. Enjoy a visit to the Albert Gilles Copper Museum. Follow the Gilles family and be entranced by the “art of repoussé”, masterfully interpreted by the craftsman Albert Gilles whose talent served prestigious people like pope Pius XII and Walt Disney. Continue on for a visit to the magnificent Saint Anne de Beaupre Basilica and then off the day with a visit to Montmorency Falls Park for spectacular views of these falls which are higher than Niagara Falls. Tonight, enjoy another delicious dinner in the Old City.

Day 4: Travel along the St. Lawrence to Canada’s Capital

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Enjoy breakfast this morning before departing for Canada’s Capital! Enjoy the scenery as we travel along the north shore of the St. Lawrence River. Mid-day, arrive to the renowned Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello resort, nestled in the heart of the scenic Montebello village. Historically founded as a private club in 1930, it’s known as the world’s largest log cabin! Here we’ll enjoy a planned luncheon before we continue on to Ottawa and check into the Holiday Inn Hotel  Parlament Hill for the next two evenings. Tonight, enjoy a planned dinner at one of the cities fine restaurants.

Day 5: Ottawa City Tour, Rideau Hall, RMCP Stables & Mackenzie King Estate

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

Following breakfast, we’ll meet our professional local Tour Guide and depart for a tour of this beautiful city. On the tour, enjoy a picture stop of the Canadian Parliament! The buildings and grounds of Parliament Hill is a site of architectural beauty, historical significance and federal decision-making. Then visit Rideau Hall, the official residence and workplace of every Governor General since 1867. Enjoy touring this enchanting site with its historic building and beautiful landscape. Enjoy free time for lunch and exploring at the famous By Ward Market. This afternoon, enjoy a visit to the Royal Mounted Canadian Police Stables for a tour of the stables (where they always have horses), the tack room, Ferrier Shop and the Arena where they practice. In the visitor’s center, enjoy a video of the history of the Musical Ride and on the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. We’ll finish off the day with a visit to the Mackenzie King Estate. This country estate belonged to Canada’s 10th and longest serving Prime Minister, William Lyon Mackenzie King. This special place takes us back to the early 1900s where we can listen to the story of the Estate as told by one of our guide-interpreters, tour through the faithfully restored cottages, stroll through the magnificent gardens, visit the historical ruins, or sit back and enjoy a cup of tea on the main veranda of the Mackenzie King Tearoom. This evening, enjoy a delicious dinner at one of Ottawa’s fine restaurants.

Day 6: 1000 Islands Luncheon Cruise & CN Tower

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

This morning, enjoy breakfast before we continue on to the 1000 Islands region where we’ll enjoy a scenic 1000 islands Luncheon Cruise. Cruise past dozens of islands, fairy-tale castles, lighthouses, island mansions and wildlife all while hearing about true tales of Pirates, bootleggers and the Gilded Age rich and famous who all spent time here. Later this afternoon, we’ll continue on to Toronto and enjoy a visit to the CN Tower for spectacular views of the city and surrounds. Later, check into the Holiday Inn City Centre Toronto for the night. This evening is ours to explore and dine at one of the cities fine restaurants.

Day 7: Niagara-On-The-Lake, Niagara Falls & Horn Blower Falls Cruises

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

After breakfast, we’ll depart for the charming Victorian style village of Niagara-on-the-Lake for an independent lunch and free time to explore the village and shops. This afternoon, we’ll drive through this magnificent wine country, and enjoy a visit to one of the regions renowned Vineyards for a tasting. Later, we’ll meet our professional local guide for a tour of Niagara Falls and visit such sites as the Hydro Floral Clock, maintained by The School of Horticulture students. The clock face is changed twice a season indicating the changing flora and fauna life throughout the year. Later, we’ll be met by the thunderous roar of these great falls and enjoy some time to explore the promenade and take pictures before we step aboard the Hornblower Niagara Cruises for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, taking you into the mighty mists of the Horseshoe Falls! Check into the Hilton Hotel Fallsview for a relaxing night’s stay. Tonight, enjoy a delicious dinner at Elements Restaurant overlooking the falls while enjoying Niagara Falls Illumination! The Falls are transformed into an incredible, multi-colored water and light masterpiece.

Day 8: Depart for home

Meals: Breakfast

This morning, enjoy breakfast before we bid farewell to Niagara Falls and depart for home taking many wonderful memories of our Eastern Canadian adventure home with us!
