Description

This trek is full of picturesque mountains, steep rocky paths, ethnic varieties, and pure nature. The landscapes of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Region just above Ghorepani are some of the best mountain escapes on earth. The sunrise view from the Poonhill viewpoint is heavenly and majestic. It provides the view of mountains more than 8000m in altitudes like Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and few other prominent ranges like Nilgiri, Machapuchare, Lamjung Himal and Himchuli.

A sub-tropical forest full of floras, faunas, unique birds and plants covers a portion of the trek. Also, Red, White, and Yellow Rhododendron found contrasting to the lush green forest, and the birds play a never-ending symphony for you as you embark on your journey through the route. This trek makes you feel nature in all of its splendor.

Ten days is all it takes to experience what makes Nepal so ridiculously amazing. This tour starts and ends in Kathmandu and packs incredible views, temples, hikes, food, and moments into every step along the way. Experience local living and ancient Magar culture in Panauti. Opt to para sail or just stroll along Phewa Lake at Pokhara. Have your mind blown as you hike alongside one of the world’s most beautiful mountain ranges.

Day 2: Touring the Kathmandu Valley

Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast, we’ll have a guided tour of the city. There are numerous things to do in Kathmandu. We can visit the center of pilgrimage, Pashupatinath, the monkey temple, Swoyambhunath listed in the UNESCO world heritage sites, or Bouddhanath, the Buddhist shrine. We can visit the historic Basantapur Durbar Square and the center of fine arts, Patan Durbar Square. The local gullies of Kathmandu have different stories to tell every single individual. You witness them on our way back to the hotel. At night we have dinner and get to know our fellow trekkers better and talk about the plans for the trek.

Day 3: Flight or Drive to Pokhara, (25 minutes flight or 6-7 hours drive)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

We will be taken to the airport for a flight to Pokhara which takes 25-30 minutes. During the flight, we witness majestic views of some ranges like Manaslu Range, the snowcapped Annapurna, and Langtang Himalayan Range. You can also take a road trip to Pokhara through Prithvi Highway. It takes about 6-7 hours to get to Pokhara from Kathmandu. The journey is full of natural scenic beauties like rivers, hills, and forests. After arriving in Pokhara, we will be escorted to the hotel where we can freshen up ourselves. We relax on the shore of Phewa Lake and enjoy the scenic beauties of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Machapuchare ranges. We stay overnight in Pokhara.

Day 4: Trek to Tikhedunga

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Today, our journey on foot for the Ghorepani Poonhill begins. After breakfast, we take a drive from Pokhara through the large village of Lumle to Nayapul. We walk and climb uphill slowly and steadily through the steep way up. We traverse high above a river on a full stone-paved trail to a very prosperous town of Birethani (1000m). The trek is entire of bamboo forests and waterfall with plunge pools along the way. Beyond a pasture land, the trek reaches the village of Sidhu where we will stop to have our lunch. After lunch, we move forward on the trail. Climbing steadily to the valley of Hile, the trek takes us to Tikhedunga where we stay in a local guesthouse for the night.

Day 5: Tikhedunga to Ghorepani

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

One of the most exciting days of Ghorepani Poonhill trek, we start our trail early in the morning. The trail starts crossing the Tikhedhunga River on a suspension bridge and then again Bhurungdi Khola on a large deck of 1520m. The trail ascends through a steep stair of rocks, approximately 3300 of them. The staircase takes us to the large village of Ulleri (2080m). From Ulleri, we slowly continue our trail through fields and cultivated pasture lands. Walking beside a river and refreshing rhododendron forest, we do a short climb to Nagathani (2460m). We go through two sparkling clear streams and small ridge on the way to it. We have our lunch at Nagathani and rest for a bit. Then after, we continue our trail, and after walking for approximately an hour, we reach our destination for today, Ghorepani (2750m). In winters, the paths can be covered in snow. We stay a night in Ghorepani.

Day 6: Ghorepani to Poonhill and then to Tadapani

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

We shall rise and start our trail early to catch the majestic sunrise from the Poonhill. Making an early morning excursion towards the Poonhill rewards us with the most satisfying views of Himalayas as the Sun showers its yellow stroke upon them. Mountain ranges like Dhaulagiri (8167m), Tukuche (6920m), Nilgiri(6940m), Annapurna South, Annapurna I (8091m), Hiuchhuli (6441m), Tarke Kang (7193m), Gangapurna (7454), Lamjung Himal (6986m) and Mount Machapuchare (6997m) leave us stunned with their panoramic views. The glorious view is yours to capture and makes memories to cherish lifelong. After breakfast, we start descending towards Tadapani. The trail goes through a short climb to Deurali pass, providing us with a spectacular view of Mt. Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. The moss forest with a large variety of unique birds accompanies us on our way towards Tadapani. Tadapani also provides us with an up-close sunset view. We stay overnight in Tadapani.

Day 7: Tadapani to Ghandruk

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Today we trail downwards slowly towards the village of Ghandruk. Our trail consists of cultivated fields, beautiful eye controlling forests and some small settlements. We will be going through some thick, dense forests with old rhododendron trees. The rhododendrons turn the jungle into gardens in some seasons. A steep rocky descent done slowly leads us to the village of Ghandruk. Ghandruk is the second largest Gurung village of Nepal and is one of the highlights of this trek. Exploring the village, the tradition and culture of the Ghandruk people, you can relax the rest of the day here. We will be staying in Ghandruk for the night.

Day 8: Ghandruk to Birethani and then to Pokhara

Today, our trail moves downwards towards the village of Birethani and back to Nayapul. Then we catch a private bus and drive back to Pokhara. Our trail goes through several settlements, the staircase slabs, green forests, and terraced fields. We move along the Modi Khola to Modi Valley. A slow and steady walk takes us to Birethani and then a half an hour walk to Nayapul. From Nayapul, we catch a private bus and get on our way back to Pokhara. You will be transferred back to the hotels, and you will be bid farewell to your porters and guides this day.
