Itinerary: A World of Art: From the Barnes Foundation to Rodin and More

Day 1
Check-In, Registration, Orientation, Welcome Dinner
Philadelphia PA D Club Quarters Hotel Philadelphia
Afternoon: Registration from 3:30 to 4:30 in hotel lobby, followed by orientation. After you pick up your arrival packet, we will gather for introductions, and an orientation to the program.

Dinner: Enjoy a relaxing meal at Davio's Restaurant located off the hotel lobby. All diet requests can be accommodated.

Evening: Nothing is planned so that you can rest up for the upcoming activities.

Day 2
Barnes on the Parkway, Academy of Fine Arts,
Philadelphia PA B,D Club Quarters Hotel Philadelphia
Activity note: Busing to and from. Walking 1 block between museums. Normal amount of standing and walking in museums. Wheelchairs are available.

Breakfast: At Davio's off the hotel lobby. An upgraded Continental breakfast to include, hot and cold cereal, variety of juices, pastries, bagels, toast, granola, yogurt, fruit bowl, hard boiled egg, coffee & tea

Morning: After breakfast, we will visit the Barnes Foundation for a private tour.

Lunch: Lunch is on your own at a local restaurant in the area. In order to offer you more flexibility and meal options and to keep costs down, we are offering lunches on your own on this date, with the exception of the last day of the program when there is a farewell lunch.

Afternoon: We will visit The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts with an educator. The Academy only exhibits art by American Artists. It was founded by Charles Wilson Peale and is the oldest art school in America. Attendees and graduates would include Thomas Eakins, Andrew Wyeth, Mary Cassatt and Jackson Pollock.

Dinner: Dinner is at a local restaurant. All diet restrictions can be accommodated.

Evening: CULTURAL EVENT: Tonight, we will attend one of many cultural events going on in the city (TBA). Because our program was planned almost a year in advance, specific information was not available at the time of publication. We will post the information on this website and include it in preparatory materials as soon as confirmed.

Day 3
Philadelphia Museum of Art, Free Time

Activity note: Busing to and from. Normal amount of standing and walking in museums. Wheelchairs are available at the museum only

Breakfast: At Davio's off the hotel lobby. An upgraded Continental breakfast to include, hot and cold cereal, variety of juices, pastries, bagels, toast, granola, yogurt, fruit bowl, hard boiled egg, coffee & tea.

Morning: FIELD TRIP: The Philadelphia Museum of Art. Led by an educator, we will have an introduction to one of the nation's foremost destinations in which to see world-class art.

Lunch: Lunch is on your own at The Philadelphia Museum of Art. There is a choice of two restaurants, the Cafeteria or the Granite Hill for fine dining. Program Note: In order to offer you more flexibility and meal options and to keep costs down, we are offering lunches on your own on this date, with the exception of the last day of the program when there is a farewell lunch.

Afternoon: After lunch, you will have an opportunity to explore the exhibitions and galleries on your own. This grand museum, among the world’s greatest, began as a legacy of the 1876 Centennial Exhibition. It is home to more than 227,000 objects spanning the creative achievements of the Western world since the first century AD and those of Asia since the third millennium BC. The European holdings date from the Medieval era to the present, and the collection of arms and armor is the second largest in the United States. The American collections are among the finest in the country, as are the expanding collections of modern and contemporary art. You return to the hotel on your own. Public buses are available at the West entrance as well as taxis.

Dinner: Dinner is on your own this evening. Your Group Leader will offer suggestions of dining options near the hotel.

Evening: Free evening for you to explore some of Philadelphia's nightlife.

Day 4
Rodin Museum, Sculpture Lecture, Barnes on the Parkway

Activity note: Busing to museum. Normal amount of standing and walking in museums. Wheelchairs are available at the museum only.

Breakfast: Continental breakfast at Davio's Restaurant including hot and cold cereals, fresh fruit, juices, pastries, bagels, toast, yogurt, hard boiled eggs and hot beverages.

Morning: Morning visit with our sculptor John Giannotti to The Rodin Museum followed by a field trip in our bus to view other noted works of outdoor public sculpture by Calder, Oldenberg and other.

Lunch: Lunch is on your own. You may choose to dine at The Barnes restaurant "Fresh & First" or at local eateries in the area. Program Note: In order to offer you more flexibility and meal options and to keep costs down, we are offering lunches on your own on this date, with the exception of the last day of the program when there is a farewell lunch.

Afternoon: We will visit the Barnes Foundation and take an audio tour.

Dinner: Dinner tonight is at the Prime Rib Restaurant. A relaxing atmosphere and good food are the cornerstone of this restaurant. All diet restrictions can be accommodated.

Evening: At leisure.

Day 5
Fairmount Park Field Trip, Program Concludes

Activity note: Busing to museum. Normal amount of standing and walking in museums. Wheelchairs are available at the museum only.

Breakfast: Continental breakfast at Davio's Restaurant including hot and cold cereals, fresh fruit, juices, pastries, bagels, toast, yogurt, hard boiled eggs and hot beverages.

Morning: FIELD TRIP: Sara Richardson takes you by our private motor coach through the largest city park in the USA comprised of 9,000 acres. You will see notable sculptures and historic houses in the park. Our program ends at 11:30 on our return to the hotel.
