Description | In the footsteps of Tilman, we trace the popular pilgrim trail to Panch Pokhari Lakes, make a crossing of the remote and heavily glaciated Tilman Pass (5308m), and then witness the rebuilding and rejuvenation that is underway in the Langtang Valley. |
Starting in the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu, visitors will spend the first nine days getting to know the country's history, culture, and nature. Explore numerous historical religious sites in Kathmandu Valley, including the spectacular Pashupatinath Temple and the Changu Narayan Temple. Hop in a private van to Chitwan National Park, where a jungle walk or a river safari will bring you to see the rare one-horned rhinos. Take a sail on Phewa Lake and take in the stunning sunrise view of Sarangkot while you're in Pokhara. Before wrapping up your Nepal vacation, you'll take a walk around the Thamel District to get a feel for real local life. |

Once we reach a steep rock face after the initial climb we traverse to the left and climb directly onto the snowfield of the pass. The pass is to the northwest of the snowfield. We then descend a steep snow slope and rocky gullies, care should be take here as the gullies can be icy. We may fix a handline and your leader will advise the plan after assessing the conditions. The pass crossing will be a long day of approx. 7-9 hours. We camp at the northern shore of a lake.
