1. Athens
The capital of Greece, named by the ancient Goddess of warfare and wisdom, the city is today, just like Rome, a mosaic of urban areas incorporated in the ancient rests and monuments, dominated by the magnificent Acropolis.
2. Corinth Canal
6.4 km long, this canal separates Peloponnesus from the mainland. It was completed in 1893 and although it shortens the voyage for 700 km, connecting the Aegeus to the Ionic sea, it results to be too narrow and too low, limiting the passage of bigger ships.
3. Vouraikos
It’s a river in northern part of the Peloponnesus peninsula, that created an attractive gorge. The gorge is today a famous hiking trail that perfectly coincides with the functioning Odontotos rack railway.
4. Elafonisos
The island of beautiful beaches with Caribbean water, Elafonisos is like Pounta, Kontogoni, Panagia and the queen of the beaches, Simos. At the very south of the Peloponnesus the island is a must stop for an on the road vacation.
5. Mystras
10 km from Sparta, Mystra is one of the most beautiful archeological sites of the Peloponnesus. It was one of the byzantine capitals and one of the most important locations for culture. Today, after a long restauration still in course, it’s a UNESCO site.
6. Mycenae
One of the most ancient archeological sites, Mycenae is part of the UNESCO. The visit includes also the Archeological Museum.
7. The Ancient Theater of Epidaurus
This landmark was built around 350 BC. It could host 14.000 spectators on 55 seat rows and it is famous for an incredible acoustic. The pieces performed are perfectly audible from the row 55.
8. Mount Athos
This landmark is officially the Autonomic Monastic State of Mount Athos is situated on the most eastern part of the Khalkidhiki peninsula. It’s inhabited by cca 15000 orthodox monks. No women are allowed to visit the Monasteries. This ban concerns also animals, with just a few exceptions.
9. Ithaca
This landmark is located in the Ionian Sea, is still considered from most experts to be the homeland of Odysseus.
10. Mykonos
The best place to go if looking for parties and fun. This “Aegean Ibiza” hosts throw-out the season the world most famous DJs. Beautiful and equipped beaches with plenty of bars and pubs are its landmark, but lovers of nature and culture will not remain disappointed.

11. Santorini
The most romantic of all the Greek islands, Santorini offers picturesque white and blue houses, most beautiful panoramic sunsets, museums and various water sports and activities.
12. Kythira
The birthplace of Aphrodite, Kythira is the goddess of beauty, love and passion. This island offers calmness and authenticity in its numerous villages, which only recently began to invest in tourism, since Kythira is not yet considered one of the top Greek destinations.
13. Lesbo
In the northeastern Aegean Sea, the Island faces Turkey, by whom is separated by a 5.5km wide strait. The villages are very picturesque and characterized by a strong oriental influence.
14. Rhodes
The largest of the Dodecanese islands in the Aegean Sea, Rhodes is closer to Turkey than to Greece. The 286BC earthquake destroyed the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The island has various conquerors and each of them left a sign of its dominance in the territory. Besides Rhodes, the capital, worth visiting is also the small village of Lindons, especially for its archeological sites.
15. Corfu
The city of Corfu is part of the UNESCO Word Heritage List. The island, situated in the Ionic Sea has in its history been occupied by the Venetians, the French and England. The passing by of the various conquerors has left an interesting mix in its architecture and a unique print. The Imperatriz Sissi was a big fan of the island and headed here every time she could no longer bare the court life in Vienna. Corfu is also the birthplace of Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh.
16. Paros
In the central Aegean Sea, Paros is part of the Cyclades islands. The island has a rich history and is mainly a touristic place, with plenty of fascinating villages and beaches. It used to be famous for its particular marble, used for many sculptural masterpieces, available today only for restorations.
17. Alomisses
One of the northern Sporades, Alomisses is a perfect island for excursions and hiking. Since 1992 it is part of the National Maritime Park, for the protection of the Mediterranean monk seal and other animals.
18. Thessaloniki
The second-largest city in Greece, Thessaloniki is situated in the northeast, in the region known as Central Macedonia. Among its attractions do not miss the Byzantine and the Archeological Museum. It’s archeological sites and rests date mostly form the roman period.
19. Meteora
In central Greece, Meteora might appear isolated, but it's definitely worth the visit. In the 14th century the orthodox built several monasteries on the top of enormous cliffs reachable only through an elaborated system of ropes. Today there are still six of them and they can be visited.
20. Olympia
This landmark is where the Olympic Games were born in 776 BC and it is right here that the Olympic torch is lit some time before the beginning of the Games and is then transported to the hosting country.

21. Delphi
Known as the center of the world, Delphi is the site of the Oracle, where Apollo, after considerable donations, was answering to many quests the people from all over Greece put him after climbing to the Mont Parnassus. Apollo didn’t interface the people directly. The prophesies were revealed them by the Pizia, the priestess of the Temple, through the local priests.
22. Sparta
This landmark was founded again in 1834, near the site of the ancient city-state that was destroyed in the 4th century by the Visigoths. Of its great history and deeds today there are only few archeological finds like the Acropolis and the modern bronze statue of King Leonida.
23. Monemvasia
This town, in the southern Peloponnese, on the oriental coast of Laconia, is situated on a cliff of a rock, connected to the land only with a tiny and narrow road.
24. Crete
The biggest of the Greek island, Crete hosts Zeus’ birthplace and numerous beautiful beaches and natural sites. Its main attractions are the ruins of the Palace of Knossos, maybe the oldest European city and residence of King Minos whose legend is link to that of the Minotaur in the Labyrinth
25. Mount Olympus
It's impossible to reach its peaks without the permission of the Gods, as the highest mountain in Greece was also considered to be the seat twelve gods. It was declared National Park in 1938.
