"We have done the 8 days Lhasa - Shigatze - Mt Everest tour, and added a couple of days of private tour at the end. Our contact person, Beatrice, was wonderful. She helped us at every step, including a last minute hotel change. (I recommend staying at the Shang Bala hotel in Lhasa. We "upgraded" to the 4 -Point Sheraton first. Big mistake. The Shang Bala is nicer, more interesting, and at a much better location. Cheaper too.) Our guide was Dhargye. He took care of us during our trip, explained Tibet and its history, culture, and in general made the trip very enjoyable. Thank you, Dhargye!"

"My favourite travel agent for SE Asia. Thuong was kind and thoughtful. She greeted us on arrival at our hotel, and made sure our 10 day tour, North to South Vietnam, was perfect. We added a trip to Laos and Seam Reap....no problem. Swallow organised everything for us, whatever we wanted. "I had an absolutely fabulous time on InquisiTours Wine & Rails tour. We had amazing food and wine, saw some incredible sights, everything you'd expect, but it was the unexpected that made this a WOW trip. Guy's spirit and great story telling, along with the little surprises he had planned (and some he improvised) along the way were exceptional. And although I went only knowing one other tour member, by the end of the trip it was like hanging out with old friends, some of whom I still keep in touch with. I can't recommend InquisiTours enough even if, and maybe *especially* if group travel isn't your norm. (Disclosure, I was comped the trip and attended as part of the media, but all of the above is an honest representation of my experience and I would do it all over again on my own.)"

Homestays & Local Immersion Tour Selection Trips

  • Do your research and ask questions. Homestays can be a wonderful insight into local life, but occasionally hotels are falsely advertised as "home stays".
  • Be a courteous guest. Tidy up after yourself, and look out for house rules, such as taking your shoes off before entering. Your host should enjoy having you as much as you enjoy staying there!
  • Stretch beyond your comfort zone! You may encounter squat toilets, cold showers and strange new foods, but it's all part of the experience. And who knows, you may find you have a taste for boiled frog or fried crickets.
  • Spend time with your hosts. A homestay is more than simply renting a room - it is a chance to get involved with a family's way of life. And don't forget that the reason many people agree to host is to learn about your culture, too.
