What travelers are saying

"As a solo traveller I did the 5 Day Salkantay trek on the 15th of April with Conde Travel, after I previously did the Rainbow Mountain Hike on the 14th and Sacred Valley tour on the 13th, all with Conde Travel. All activities turned out to be great experiences. Partly because I got so lucky with the weather as well as with the group and guides! Both hikes were extremely well arranged from the piking up at the hostels in Cusco, to the good breakfast for the necessary energy to climb the mountains as well as the delicious lunch. The Sacred Valley Tour is great if you want to have more of a chill day. I particularly enjoyed the energy of our guide Durian, during the Salkantay Trek. Personal highlights were the Rainbow Mountain, and the Zip-line and Hot Spring Activity on Day 3 and 4 of Salkantay Trek. Small note, is that I would advice people to take the train back, as it is more quick and convenient. Also it can be though at times, with the hike to the beautiful lake and to the top, however if you bring extra snacks, water and power bars you should be able to make it Machu Pichu on Day 5 without to much hassle. The sunrise over Machu Pichu on day 5 made it an unforgettable experience. Final tip for the Rainbow mountain, try to do this after you acclimatised for some days in Cusco, as it can be difficult at 5.000+ meters. Thanks Durian and Conde Travel for organising!"

What travelers are saying

"The 4 day inca trail trek is an experience of a lifetime. We were lucky with the weather - cold in the early morning starts, but luckily no rain or snow. Certianly need to dress for all seasons as it does warm up during the day. The overnight stays in the tents were basic but with the nice touch of warm water delivered in the morning for a quick wake-up wash. So many stairs but worth it for the scenery..Thanks Action Peru Treks."

What travelers are saying

"THANK YOU SO MUCH to Peru For Less (P4L) for being our “tour guide” in organizing this trip of a lifetime! It was AMAZING! Working with Arianna and Peru for Less was fantastic. There are so many Peru tour agencies and websites that I could have chosen but I decided to take a chance after seeing all those five-star reviews. I am glad I did, and am happy to add my five stars. The itinerary was perfect. It was ambitious but we did it all. P4L worked closely with the three of us and were so glad they were able to accommodate what we asked for, like extra free days. Arianna was quick to answer all of my many questions and as a stickler for details, I really appreciated how detailed she was. We opted to do a tour that also included the “foodie tour” to Central Restaurant in Lima and Mil in the Sacred Valley. WOW, totally worth it. The tours and tour guides, were the best. They and the drivers were always on time, and always found us right away. In particular, I would like to single out Javier “Javi” who was with us for one and a half days through the Sacred Valley, Maras and Moray. He was EXCELLENT, really knowledgeable, answered all our questions, and we enjoyed him very much. A great tour guide makes the trip so much more memorable and fun. We also had tours of Lima, Machu Picchu and Cusco. And we made good use of our extra time in Cusco (three nights), Machu Picchu (two nights) and Lima (could have used an extra day). At Central and Mil restaurants we got an all-around, deep-dive, education on the food of Peru. It was amazing. On our own we had to have Nikkei (Peruvian Japanese), chifa (Peruvian Chinese), Peruvian grilled chicken, pisco sours, and of course the cuy, guinea pig (just to say we did). The drivers and transfers were always on time and we appreciated that. In our free time we used Uber to get around, and our conversations with the Uber drivers were a lot of fun. Every hotel P4L booked for us was really good. We asked for 4-star hotels for more space. All in all, our trip was awesome, thanks to the expertise and skill of our travel advisor, Arianna, and her team. I am recommending P4L to everyone I know who has ever expressed an interest in going to Peru. THANK YOU AGAIN!"

Inca Trail Tour Selection Trips

  • The Inca Trail is the most famous of three major treks one can take to get to Machu Picchu. The other two are the Salkantay Trek and the Lares Trek.
  • In order to protect both the trail itself and the site at Machu Picchu, only 500 people per day are permitted on the Inca Trail. For this reason, it’s important to book well in advance!
  • You cannot hike the trail independently. You must go with a guide, which you can arrange in country, but if you do this, beware of scams. A more sure way is to book a guided trip with a reputable company, of which there are many.
  • Prepare for the altitude! If you’re not used to being in high altitude, it can be a shock, and put a damper on your whole experience. One good option is spending a few days in Cusco to acclimate.
  • If you have the opportunity, it’s also a good idea to train in the months leading up to the trek. Thousands of people hike the trail every year - of all fitness levels, but being in shape will make the trek easier and more enjoyable.
  • Be sure to break in your hiking boots well before embarking on your trek!
