"My wife and I just returned from a wet season trip with International Expeditions (IE) to Lima and the Amazon. It was tremendous: 1. The diversity of wildlife is extreme and up close and personal. 2. The vastness of it all approaches infinity. 3. The staff and guides were top drawer professionals. The IE mother ship (Zafiro) is in great condition and very comfortable, clean and welcoming. The staff is friendly, helpful, supportive, knowledgeable. The naturalists/guides are the best. Experts in the wildlife and flora and good-natured and personable. Yes, it is hot and humid, but very bearable. Yes, there are mosquitoes at night, but again very manageable. (We've all experienced much much worse in the US.) In the wet season (50 feet higher water than in dry season) you don't get to walk as much as you do in dry season because terra firma is so much further into the rain forest than you can reach in a boat. But we did get to visit villages and walk in the rain forest. We swam. We went out every morning and afternoon in the skiffs to explore smaller rivers and lakes. Sloths, monkeys, iguana, boa, anaconda, caiman, tarantula, piranha, frogs, toads, and more bird types than you can count. Wow - What a Show!"

"Love love loved our trip to Madeira. Phillipe the guide was excellent; very personable, knowledgeable, passionate about his island, helpful and fun! 10 out of 10. The group was great fun too, my husband was one of only two men vs 12 / 13 woman which caused a lot of laughs (at his expense). The itinerary was full on which left little time between getting back to the hotels and going out for dinner which was poss the main downside. The hotel in Santana wasn't great but the ones in Porto Moniz and Funchal were much better. As a vegan I struggled in the North of the island but knew that might be the case, I had bread and my own peanut butter for breakfast and bread and hummus at lunch so not ideal. Thankfully Funchal has vegan restaurants and omni restaurants have vegan menus or dishes too so finally ate well. I loved all of the hikes, very varied and all not too far from hotels in the minibus. Loved the levada walks. All walks had steep drop offs so if you're scared of heights - don't do it! I'd highly recommend this trip. We had time in Funchal to do some additional activities and we chose to visit the Palace Gardens, take the downhill sledge from Monte and go on a dolphin watching catamaran trip - all fantastic!"

Group size can make a difference on an African safari; with fewer passenger vehicles, you’ll have more flexibility to go and find wildlife.
High season in East Africa begins in January and runs through September, but from March-May heavy rains may make the roads impassable and force some lodges to close.
In the Serengeti, the best times to go are July-September for the annual noisy wildebeest stampedes, and again in January-March for the annual migration calving.
In Botswana’s Okavango Delta, June-August brings flood waters and the animals with them.
When choosing a safari operator, consider the types of lodging offered: Accommodations can range from luxurious lodges to tent camping.
You might choose lodging by its proximity to the park and its sweeping views, or opt for less expensive tented camps and cottages farther away.
Interested in experiencing Victoria Falls? Many East and Central African safari tours also include this nearby natural wonder, situated between Zambia and Zimbabwe.
