PolarExplorers organized, produced and co-guided the first ever North Pole Dogsled Expedition open to amateur explorers in 1993. We take pride in our unrivaled experience and long history of helping people from across the globe achieve their polar adventure dreams.

2013 – Our year starts out with a South Pole Last Degree Ski Expedition followed by a successful summit of Vinson Massif. On the expedition is the first-ever heart transplant recipient to ski to both the North and South Poles, along with a team of remarkable cardiologists from Canada who are doing amazing work in the field of cardiac transplantation.

2012 – PolarExplorers kicks off the the year by standing at the South Pole on the centennial anniversary of Robert Falcon Scott's arrival at the South Pole. Soon after our Full South Pole Ski team arrives at the South Pole after skiing more than 1,100 km from the coast of Antarctica.

PolarExplorers guides are passionate about what they do. Among their top priorities are helping team members to become comfortably self-sufficient. They do this by giving every team member personal guidance and advice hewn from years of experience. From choosing the best equipment to helping you learn how to cook a decent meal, they are there to help. You'll find PolarExplorers guides easy to get along with and eager to share thier expertise. Perhaps best of all, they are genuinely invested in making your experience as safe, positive and rewarding as possible.

When it comes to polar travel PolarExplorers wrote the book. Back in 1993 we produced and co-guided the first-ever dogsled and ski expedition to the North Pole for amateur adventurers, carving a path in the frozen ice for all others to follow. Over the years we've had adventurers of all ages and abilities join us. We have guided men and women from 5 years old to 80 years old, and we have developed a reputation for giving exceptional individual attention, both on and off the ice. From the moment you register until you board your return flight home, you can be confident that the entire PolarExplorers staff will work with you to ensure that you have the best possible experience.

While rugged and hostile, the polar regions are extremely delicate. They demand that we are proactive in both our care for ourselves as well as our care for the environment. No other part of the planet is experiencing greater global warming related change than the polar regions. We need to be responsive and proactive about taking care of the ends of the Earth. You can read more about our environmental stewardship here.

Why do we guide expeditions to the ends of the Earth? That's easy - we are passionate about the high latitudes. Like you, we have been captured by the mystery and beauty of the far North and South. Our idea of a good time is strapping on skis and breaking train over frozen landscapes or mushing a team of huskies past frozen sculptures of sea ice. To us frozen eyelashes and frosty faces make people more beautiful, and the crunchy sound of a sled gliding over compacted snow is music to our ears. We guide trips to the Poles because we love and respect their unforgiving and beautiful environments and we want to share with others the powerful sense of discovery that makes an expedition of this magnitude rewarding.

Requirements
Although there is no commitment to extended walking on this journey we nonetheless want to keep the ‘accent on the active’. We therefore advise that any physical training you complete before undertaking the trip will be to good effect. Snowshoeing Option: Especially on early departures at the beginning of the season there are still snow covered hills and mountains further inland. During voyages to the Antarctic we are planning on offering hiking excursions with snowshoes. Snowshoe walking is easy and does not require any technical skills. With the use of snowshoes it is easier and safer to walk on snow surfaces. Snowshoes will be provided to everyone on board. Those will fit all boot sizes and can be used in combination with the rubber boots provided. Snowshoe hiking is free of charge. A comprehensive gear list is provided in the pre-departure information supplied on booking.,
Travel Insurance
We require that you take out a personal travel insurance policy to cover against sickness, accident, loss of baggage, unexpected alterations to travel arrangements and travel disruption, emergency evacuation, cancellations, etc. A suggested policy is enclosed with these notes. If you take out an alternative policy, we need to be advised of the details and you should check that it provide adequate coverage as above. You should always carry your travel insurance policy, emergency card and photocopies of your passport and cash cards with you during your trip.
