Requirements
Daily walks are between 10km and 20km on well marked trails over diverse terrain – from relatively flat to short, steep sections. Most of the walk is on trail with some boarded surfaces, exposed tree roots, and possibly mud and/or rocks to scramble over. You should pay particular attention to your footwear to ensure that it is suitable to avoid blisters and rolling ankles. Route finding will be reasonably straightforward (refer to information regarding self guided adventures) but days are long and weather conditions will be variable. The main areas to concentrate on route finding are arriving and leaving towns and cities, and along rocky shores. The accent is on keeping a steady pace to take in all of the views, with time to stop and take photos. You will need a good level of fitness to participate fully in this adventure. Wet weather gear, sunscreen, and good walking boots. Walking poles are recommended. A comprehensive gear list is included in the pre-departure information provided on booking.,
Travel Insurance
We require that you take out a personal travel insurance policy to cover against sickness, accident, loss of baggage, unexpected alterations to travel arrangements and travel disruption, emergency evacuation, cancellations, etc. A suggested policy is included with these notes. If you take out an alternative policy, we need to be advised of the details and you should check that it provides adequate coverage as above. You should always carry your travel insurance policy, emergency card and photocopies of your passport and cash cards with you during your trip.

Additional Information
5 nights B&B's/guesthousesNational Geographic recently named the Avalon Peninsula, Newfoundland (home of the East Coast Trail) the #1 coastal destination in the world (!). Highly suggest having a look at the trip notes, at least for the images. So pretty. The ECT is actually a series of 24 trails that run from end to end (punctuated by coastal communities), for a total of 265km of trails from north to south. The package is a self-guided, B&B accommodated trip taking in some of the best sections of the ECT. In season, you can see the icebergs drifting along the shoreline and there is a good chance of spotting at least one whale from the trail. The landscape itself is the selling feature though. One is spoiled by the endless coastal views and one picturesque cove after another. The natural landscape, combined with the hospitality of notoriously friendly and talkative locals, make this a really great trip.
