Highlights of Albania
Mixed feelings.
Fabulous countryside, mountains & valleys, rivers & greenery. Lovely churches, mosques, museums & old Roman remains.
But towns in 1st week were all pretty dull & ugly. Post soviet era social housing blocks & heavy industries often just left in ruins/abandoned, statues of heroes & warmongers with guns, bunkers, defences everywhere , testiment to their brutal history.
Weather very wet & cold for April sadly.
Hotels similarly variable, Tirana bad, but most others were ok-good standard with lifts.
Nice small group of 14, aged 42-72 & both guide & driver were excellent & had v.good knowledge & manner.
Plenty of variety in visits overall, so something for everyone. Later towns Gjirokaster & Berat were prettier with lovely old Ottoman architecture.
Food & drink plentiful. I'd have preferred less time sat at lunch & more relaxed time over breakfast & evening dinner. Cheap coffees, alcohol & meals.. Drinking water provision by Explore would save a lot of plastic waste bottles (which all end up in landfill in mountain valleys.)
Overall I'm glad I went. It was interesting but some improvements could be made to timetable to allow more time in the prettier greener places I think..

Jordan Discovery by Explore!
Jordan Discovery
Excellent Tour. Our leader Zuhair was great. The hotels were a good standard, all clean. The night camping in the desert was great it was less basic than I had expected the tents are for 2-4 people and you shared with your partner or had a single, there are proper beds and carpet in tents, the toilet block is a short walk. Definitely recommend the camel ride.

Rome, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast
Our Tour leader: Walter, was brillient, both helpful and made it fun.
Included travel & transfers where great.
Both Revello & Naples city walk was very different & interesting.

Mount Vesuvious was disppointing and a hard dusty climb.
I would like option to go to any Villa & garden (I pay entrance fee) nearby instead, for all less fit individuals.
Only option given: sit in cafe at bottom for 2 hours.

Treasures of Jordan by Explore!
Treasures of Jordan
Abdullah was an excellent guide who made our trip run very smoothly with as much time as possible at the various attractions. He was very knowledgible, empathatic, supportive but was assertive when needed. His photography that he shared with the group was fun and excellent. We had some early starts so we could have as much time as possible in Petra and Wadi Rum. A better guide would be very hard to find. The itinerary was full on but the attractions were fabulous. Petra and Wadi Rum were the highlights especially the camel ride at sunrise in the desert. Abdullah chose our eating places carefully so we did not get ill.
However after he left us on our final night we ate at the Hotel as we were tired and had early flights, and several of us were ill. Lisa at Explore is communicating with the Jordan agent to investigate and ensure the hotel adheres to government hygiene standards.
Suggestions: arrive one day early to rest, recuperate and enjoy a day wandering around Amman. The locals are so helpful when you get lost-all the time! The school girls wanted to try their English on us. The souks are amazing.
Solo people should have double beds if paying a single supplement not twin beds please?
Bring water shoes for the Dead Sea.
Overall it is one of the best tours that I have ever had.
