Description |
Two Canadian Provinces in One Trip Join us for this exciting adventure encompassing two of Canada’s most cycling-friendly and culturally rich cities! Ottawa, Canada’s capital city, boasts an enviable network of scenic bike paths that parallel the city’s waterways and lead to major points of interest such as Parliament Hill, the locks of the Rideau Canal, and lively ByWard Market. During the region’s “Sunday Parkways,” ride a beautiful loop through Gatineau Park—completely free of vehicular traffic! Visit Ottawa during the height of their fabulous tulip season. The peaceful countryside between Ottawa and Montréal offers miles of uninterrupted cycling through farmland and small villages, both in Ontario and Québec. An exclusive two-night stay at Fairmont’s Le Château Montebello—the world’s largest log cabin—feels like a trip back in time. Luxuriate in their spa or take to country roads. Ride the fabulous Lachine Canal bike path into Montréal where your boutique lodging in Old Montréal provides the perfect base from which to explore this vibrant city. |
Day 1:
Meet your tour leaders bright and early in Burlington, VT, for the drive to Ottawa. Tour Canada’s capital city along its extensive network of scenic bike paths. Watch boats navigate the locks on the Rideau Canal below the impressive Parliament Building, Canada’s government seat.
Day 2:
Ride free of vehicular traffic on beautiful Gatineau Parkway – two lanes, one way, no vehicles! Tour the Parliament Building, visit the National Gallery, or explore lively Byward Market in the afternoon.
Day 3:
Wind your way on a bike path along the river out of the city into rolling farmland. Cross the river by ferry to the Fairmont Le Château Montebello, the largest log cabin in the world. Enjoy a delicious evening meal at the Château.
Day 4:
Relax and enjoy the amenities at the Château Montebello or choose from a selection of loop rides through the surrounding countryside.
Day 5:
Country roads and small towns of eastern Ontario rule the day as you continue east. Enjoy a picnic lunch at an interesting microbrewery in the midst of a historic village. Rural farmland and gently rolling terrain make the miles fly by.
Day 6:
Wind your way to bike paths paralleling the St. Lawrence River and stop for lunch at the bustling Atwater Market. Continue to Montréal’s historic old port and the chic St-Sulpice Hotel. Stroll through Old Montréal’s narrow streets. Enjoy a fabulous dinner at a wonderful French restaurant this evening.
Day 7:
Enjoy a scenic ride within the city before visiting Parc de la Cité du Havre with stunning views back over the St. Lawrence to downtown Montreal. Continue over the Concordia Bridge to Île Notre-Dame. We will transfer you back to the airport in Burlington in the afternoon.
