We stayed in beautiful hotels. Most of the riding was on paved bike paths so we hardly ever had to deal with car traffic. Our leaders, Andrea and Martin, were funny, informative , and so helpful. "We just returned from a two-week trip that took us from Venice, to Parma, to Florence, to Rome, and Sorrento, and we couldn't be happier with the trip set up by everyone at Viandando. After telling them what our interests were, they set up a tour that introduced us to Italy and kept everyone in our group (ranging from grandparents to kids) engaged and excited. All of the guides we had were friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable. Although Italy was packed with tourists, Viandando set us up so we never waited in any lines and were able to experience some of the top sites without huge crowds. The hotels we had were all fantastic, offering us great rooms and central locations to explore the city. Our drivers were waiting for us and got us where we needed to be on time! Most importantly, Elena, Eleonora, and Giulia were there for us when plans changed unexpectedly. Our flights were cancelled multiple times and, even though this was totally out of their control, Viandando had our back and was able to make last minute travel changes to help save whatever they could of the days that we lost due to our flights. Their support while we were on the trip was absolutely fantastic. If you're looking for a quality company to set up a first-class trip, you can stop searching--Viandando will get it done for you!"

Italy Culinary & Wine Tours Tour Selection Trips

  • Italian culture, dialects, and food are very regional specific. Participating in a food tour will help highlight this.
  • American-Italian food tends to be heavier than most of the fare you’ll find in the motherland. Pasta is generally not dry and boxed, pizza crust is very thin, and sauces are less heavy.
  • Italian food can be high in starch, gluten, and carbohydrates. If you have dietary restrictions, let your guide know as far in advance as possible.
  • Be open to new tastes and traditions. Meals in Italy are a celebrated, communal, family affair. Enjoy it!
  • When wine tasting, it can be very easy to not realize how quickly the pours add up. If you’re cognizant of how much you’re drinking you and your tour companions will enjoy the day much more. 
  • Breakfast food is fairly basic in Italy- Don’t expect enormous meals in the morning. Just a simple biscotti with an espresso is perfect.
  • Ordering coffee in Italy can be nerve-wracking. There’s an entire culture surrounding it, from when to drink (cappuccino is strictly a morning drink) to how to drink properly (usually standing at the bar and quickly). And if you order a latte, you will be served a large glass of milk rather than your desired concoction (caffe con latte). 
  • Be prepared for coffee fundamentals - Starbucks variations and syrups are not to be found.
