What's this trip about?

The Ancascocha Trail in the Peruvian Andes is a remarkable trail that, unlike other more popular trails, remains off the beaten track and away from crowds. Yet don’t be put off by its lesser-known status, it was after all named by National Geographic as one of 20 dream hikes on their World Best Hikes list. This stunning trek takes you past ancient Inca ruins and through traditional Andean villages such as Chillipahua and the trail’s namesake Ancascocha (3,700 m/12,136 ft). Here you may briefly share the trail with farmers, shepherds, and their livestock tending to their daily lives, so far removed from the tourist crowds of Cusco.

Action Peru Treks was started in 2015 by Roxner Cardenas, who was born in a small community outside of Machu Picchu and has trekked this area all of his life.

He has guided hundreds of groups on the Inca Trail, Ancascocha, Salkantay, Lares and the Choquequirao treks, both as a porter and a tour guide. He first visited Machu Picchu when he was 12 years old and was stunned by the history and architecture and decided to study to be a guide so he could share his culture and this beautiful landscape with others.

Roxner and his team at Action Peru Treks believes “action” accomplishes a purpose. That’s why you’ll be in good hands when you take action with us. Connect with breathtaking scenery, experience the wisdom and energy of Peru’s ancient lands first hand, and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime!

Action Peru Treks provides superior quality, authentic hikes, treks, and tours along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, Ancascocha, Salkantay, Lares, Choquequirao and more! We can even customize a tour just for you and your group! Our entire team at Action Peru Treks consists of Peruvian natives – and locals to the Cusco and Sacred Valley areas. We know the terrain, history, the hidden gems, and the people. We are proud and honored to walk in the footsteps of our ancestors, and we look forward to sharing the journey with you.

Our Mission & Vision
