Highlights

    • This 3-day trek traverses highland communities, renowned for their handwoven textiles, in the Lares Valley.
    • This trek is off the beaten path and the interaction with local villages and their vibrant cultures is superb.
    • You will see abundant llamas and alpacas.
    • The Lares Trek is also referred to as the Weaver's Trek. This is because you pass through many villages where the best textiles in the area are made.
    • You will see the women weaving and get some tips! You also get to visit the magnificent Lares hot springs. It ends at the town of Ollantaytambo, and from there the train trip to Machu Picchu is only 1 ½ hours.

What's this trip about?

This remote and rarely visited region offers the trekker an insider's view into traditional Andean life - a timeless world where farmers plant their crops on the lands their ancestors tended and watch over herds of llama and alpaca beneath the sacred snow-covered peaks they worshipped as gods. The Lares Trek to Machu Picchu is one of the Inca trails from the time of the Inca Empire. Today, the trail is still in use by farmers, who are Inca descendants. The Lares Trek connects the communities of Cancha Cancha, Quisuarani, Cuncani, and Lares with life in the Sacred Valley. On the third day, we’ll take the afternoon train to Aguas Calientes, having a full day to explore the Machu Picchu Sanctuary and climb Huayna Picchu mountain on the last day.

Action Peru Treks was started in 2015 by Roxner Cardenas, who was born in a small community outside of Machu Picchu and has trekked this area all of his life.

He has guided hundreds of groups on the Inca Trail, Ancascocha, Salkantay, Lares and the Choquequirao treks, both as a porter and a tour guide. He first visited Machu Picchu when he was 12 years old and was stunned by the history and architecture and decided to study to be a guide so he could share his culture and this beautiful landscape with others.

Roxner and his team at Action Peru Treks believes “action” accomplishes a purpose. That’s why you’ll be in good hands when you take action with us. Connect with breathtaking scenery, experience the wisdom and energy of Peru’s ancient lands first hand, and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime!

Action Peru Treks provides superior quality, authentic hikes, treks, and tours along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, Ancascocha, Salkantay, Lares, Choquequirao and more! We can even customize a tour just for you and your group! Our entire team at Action Peru Treks consists of Peruvian natives – and locals to the Cusco and Sacred Valley areas. We know the terrain, history, the hidden gems, and the people. We are proud and honored to walk in the footsteps of our ancestors, and we look forward to sharing the journey with you.

Our Mission & Vision
Action Peru Treks was started to create a RESPONSIBLE, SUSTAINABLE and ECO-FRIENDLY TOUR Company in Cusco.

We strive to bring genuine, unique tours that you won`t find through any other trekking agency. We believe in providing fair pricing to you, while providing fair compensation for our entire team.

We want to provide you with the best quality experience, from your first step until you return home to tell your friends and family about the magic that is this sacred valley. While trekking with our team you will see that we love the work we do. Talk to any one of our clients and they will tell you that our tours are unlike any other!
