Over 20 Years Of Extraordinary

Henrietta Loyd founded cazenove+loyd in 1993, born out of a passion for travel and specifically in its formative days, Africa. Joined by Christopher Wilmot-Sitwell in 1996, Latin America was started the following year then Asia+The Middle East in 2000. It is these three regions where we focus solely thus ensuring our knowledge is second to none and constantly up to date. We are still owner-run and our philosophy is the same today as the day we opened our doors- we are about being the best rather than the biggest. We always have been and we always will be.

Truly Tailor-Made

Unlike large tour operators, we do not 'own' product so we are never going to offload something on you which we have been unable to sell to someone else. We believe it is important to create an itinerary which give people a true understanding of our destinations. We aim to push travel experiences far beyond the realms of ordinary and it is this ethic that makes us buzz and one we still thrive on over 20 years later. We pride ourselves on attention to detail and thoughtful personal touches throughout your itinerary. Once. It's a small word, but it's our philosophy, our promise.

Knowledge + Expertise

c+l was founded on a curiosity for discovering new places and people so we know that it is the guide and the experience that makes or breaks the trip. Our extraordinary network of contacts throughout our three regions of expertise are extensive and deep rooted. Our trusted friends on the ground mean that we can make it happen day in day out. And we do. There are few doors we cannot open and we are continuously recognized for this ‘can-do’ attitude which we call ‘destination expertise’. We are, however, only as good as the last vacation we create.

Our C+L Promise

We always stay in touch throughout your trip to ensure you are looked after every step of the way. We take great delight in seeing the journey our clients take through the vacations we have created for them. Families with young children travel each year until we are arranging honeymoons for those children followed by family trips a few years later with their own young children. Our clients enjoy the thrill of discovery and adventure which form the backbone of treasured memories which last a lifetime.

Guides
Sir Nicholas Soames Sir Arthur Nicholas Winston Soames is a British Conservative Party politician and the grandson of Sir Winston Churchill.  He has represented Mid Sussex since 1997, previously serving as MP for Crawley. Sir Nicholas has an incredible energy and passion for his grandfather, which is infectious. To this one-off trip, he brings personal anecdotes as he knew him late into his teenage years, as well as access to previously unpublished materials from the Churchill archive.   Nicholas Schofield Born on a grape farm in the Cape, Nicholas has a life’s passion for African history and, in particular, the Anglo-Boer War. Upon completion of his studies, he became a lecturer in history at Vista University, Mamelodi, the Black township of Pretoria. After ten years and restless for a change, in 1993 he formed “The Expeditionary Force”, a company which specialises in African journeys, based on historical and cultural themes. Schofield is now the historical consultant for Rovos Rail and has been for the past twenty-two years. He is described by Rohan Vos, Founder of Rovos Rail, as ‘our story-teller extraordinaire’.

Here is an amazing opportunity for Trips Extensions

Kwazulu Natal

For those looking for stunning scenery and incredibly diverse wildlife, we recommend staying a few days in Kwazulu Natal: an exquisite area in the Eastern region of South Africa where tangled coastal forest gives way to the impressive Drakensberg Mountains on one side and beautiful, pristine shores on the other. One of our favourite lodges in this area is Phinda Vlei Lodge. Elegant and exclusive, its teak suites are set on stilts and overlooking wetlands which are favoured by cheetah. A wildlife lover’s paradise, the habitat here supports a diversity from the Big Five to a host of lesser-known animal and bird species.

Cape Town + The Winelands

Culture lovers may want to explore Cape Town and its surrounding wine region. South Africa’s most beautiful and eclectic city, Cape Town has everything to offer in terms of fantastic food, exquisite beaches, great scenery, and excellent places to stay. One of our favourite hotels is the legendary Belmond Mount Nelson, which stands in a nine-acre garden at the base of Table Mountain. If you have a few more days, why not head out to the picturesque Winelands. Le Quartier Francais lies in the heart of the pretty village of Franschhoek. This tiny hotel has light and airy rooms, a swimming pool and an award-winning restaurant. It’s also just a stone’s throw away from many of the best wineries, which are just waiting to be explored.

Johannesburg + Madikwe Game Reserve

If you are wanting to have a classic safari experience, we recommend spending a night back in Johannesburg at luxury boutique hotel Athol Place before being driven to Madikwe Game Reserve. One of South Africa’s largest game reserves, this varied terrain is home to the ‘Big Five’ plus cheetah, wild dog, giraffe and zebra. Makanyane Safari Lodge sits on 1,800 hectares and has just 8 suites, which are hidden amongst the forest and overlook the Marico River. As well as twice-daily game drives, Makanyane offers tracking on foot with an expert guide. We can also arrange for a night sleeping under the African sky in one of the lodge’s hides.
