Day 2: Tokyo

Good morning Tokyo! Full day visiting Tokyo Sky Tree, the Imperial Palace and Nijubashi Bridge. Experience a Tea Ceremony at Happoen Garden, a Sumida River cruise and finish the day at Sensoji Temple and Nakamise Shopping Arcade.

Day 3: Tokyo

Today is a free day to explore all that Tokyo has to offer. Immerse yourself in one of the most unique cities in the world. Enjoy the shopping in Shibuya; grab a crepe in Harajuku or experience a famous Japanese pasttime – Karaoke!

Day 4: Tokyo – Kawaguchiko

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

Accommodation: Mifujen, Kawaguchiko

Leave the bright lights of Tokyo behind and travel by coach to one of the 5 lakes of Mt Fuji, Lake Kawaguchiko. Today is your day of leisure to take in the magnificent sight of Mt Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko.

Day 5: Kawaguchiko

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

Accommodation: Mifujien, Kawaguchiko

Wake up well rested and ready to see the Fuji Shibazakura Festival in full bloom. Take the Kachi Kachi ropeway for incredible views of Lake Kawaguchiko and Mt Fuji. End the day exploring the Aokigahara Forest and Narusawa Ice Caves.

Day 6: Kawaguchiko – Nagoya

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

Say good-bye to Mt Fuji as you make your way to Nagoya today. Visit Nagoya Castle, a castle from Japan’s Edo period when it was one of the largest castles in all of Japan and enjoy a Nagoya original dinner – Misokatsu!

Day 7: Kiso Valley Trail

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Accommodation: Royal Park Hotel The Nagoya

Today walk a part of the old trail that connected the capitals of feudal Japan, Kyoto and Tokyo. Traverse the picturesque Kiso Valley walk between the towns of Magome and Tsumago.

Day 8: Nagoya – Tateyama Kurobe Alpen Route

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Hotel Tateyama

Send your larger luggage away to meet you in Takayama today as you traverse the scenic route of the Japanese Alps. Take in the expanse of the Kurobe Dam and admire the views from the Tateyama ropeway.

Day 9: Tateyama Kurobe Alpen Route – Takayama

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Takayama Ouan

Enjoy your final day taking in the extraordinary sights the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route has to offer. See the Ice Wall of Murodo. There are many beautiful scenic walks and hikes in the Murodo and Midagahara areas to experience!

Day 10: Takayama

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Accommodation: Takayama Ouan

Full day guided tour of Takayama. Explore Takayama’s old town, an area of Takayama frozen in time with houses dating from the Edo period. Enjoy Takayama’s famous Hida beef for lunch before visiting Yatai Kaikan and Sakurayama Nikko Kan Halls.

Day 11: Takayama – Tokyo

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Tokyo Celestine Hotel

Return to Tokyo by bullet train and enjoy the rest of the afternoon and evening at your leisure.

Day 12: Tokyo

Your journey finishes today after breakfast. Included in this tour is an airport transfer service back to Narita or Haneda International airport. We can also arrange late check out, post tour accommodation and any other arrangements if you wish to extend your stay in Japan after the tour concludes.

  • Luggage transfers as per tour itinerary are recommended by JTB as there is limited space on local transport. The Japan hotel luggage transfer service is very reliable; your large luggage will be safe when you send it on to the next city. Kawaguchi – Nagoya (same day), Nagoya – Takayama and Takayama – Tokyo (pack overnight bag).
  • This tour will operate with an experienced local English speaking guide, who will escort and guide you for all aspects of the tour from sightseeing to shopping and dining.
