Chitwan Jungle Extension

For 3 Days from $980per person

The jungles of southern Nepal are an interesting counterpoint to trekking in the foothills or the high Himalaya. Tiger Tops Tharu Lodge provides a relaxing and comfortable base for a wildlife safari and cultural village experience. On two full days of wildlife viewing in the National Park 'buffer zone' - the interface area between visitors and the animals that live at Chitwan – you will be accompanied by expert guides on safaris by jeep, boat, on foot and by elephant back.

Additional Information

Group Size and Holiday Status

For each holiday there is a minimum number of participants required to enable it to go ahead. Once the minimum number is reached, the trip status will change from 'Available' to 'Guaranteed to run'. You can check the trip status for each departure in ‘Dates and Prices’ table. Other than in exceptional circumstances, we will not cancel a trip once it has achieved this guaranteed to run status and so you are free to proceed with your international flight booking and other travel arrangements.

Baggage Allowance

There is no weight restriction on this trip other than imposed by your international carrier. However, we do ask you to restrict your baggage to one main item of baggage, plus a small daypack. Please note that during the border crossing from India to Nepal you will be required to carry your bags for approximately 500 metres. We recognise that for some of our holidays and for some of our travellers, the KE Trek Bag (see below) may not provide the best solution when packing for your trip. A bag with fitted wheels or a holdall with more than one compartment and more than one access zip can, in some circumstances, be more appropriate. Although it can be useful for our tour leaders when all members of the group have similar, identifying baggage, we have no problem if you choose to use an alternative bag.

Climate

The Subcontinent of India has four distinct seasons which can be categorised as Summer (March to May), Monsoon (June to mid-September), Post-monsoon (mid-September to November) and Winter (December to February). The summer months can be quite hot reaching 40 degrees Celsius by the end of April and beyond April the humidity begins to rise. Early mornings and late afternoons / evenings are warm and very pleasant in the North of India in the Summer. This is also the best time for wildlife spotting. With the onset of the monsoon in June India becomes unpleasantly hot and humid and it will rain heavily for some period during most days. With the ending of the monsoon there is a period of sunny skies and an easing of the heat. It can still be very warm during the post monsoon period but rarely uncomfortably so, and evenings are pleasantly cool. After November the temperatures start to fall. Daytime temperatures will remain warm (15 - 30 degrees Celsius) but it can become quite chilly at night and in January and February it is even possible to encounter frosts.
