What's this trip about?

Without a doubt, Iceland is by far one of the world's most underrated wildlife and nature destinations on the map. Much like a visit to Antarctica, you will come home with a million photos and a million more memories. Don't just glance at Iceland's highlights, immerse yourself in them. On this trip we will visit the Vestmannaeyjar Islands -home to the largest Puffin colony in the world. We will venture through national parks to see famous massive erupting geysers, vast and powerful waterfalls, breath-taking glacier lagoons, and powerful geothermic activity. Some of the wildlife highlights include Caribou, Kittiwakes, Auks, Guillemots, Eider Ducks, seals, whales, the majestic Icelandic horse, and guaranteed, intimate Arctic Fox sightings. To top it all off, we will also be sure to visit Iceland's iconic geothermal hot springs. Jessica Pociask, WANT wildlife guide and owner, highlights Iceland as a top destination for 2015. WANT Expeditions, LLC. - Wildlife & Nature Travel is the world leader in highly personalized, conservation-oriented small group travel, connecting travelers, adventurers, photographers and conservationists from all over the world through expeditions to see the most amazing natural phenomena that exist on our planet. We have a strong reputation for our professional, attentive services, unique itineraries and outstanding tour leading experiences. As company owners, and expedition leaders, we have four main goals; to create the most in-depth and authentic travel experiences on Earth, to maintain the most talented and experience guides, both inside and out of our industry, to promote responsible tourism and sustainability projects in developing countries, and to constantly strive for improvement.

Our Expeditions

With massive globalization, expansion of western ideals, and rapid technological and media increases, everyday it seems like the world gets a little smaller and it becomes more and more difficult to find genuine travel experiences without throngs of tourists impacting and potential ruining the very places you have dreamed of visiting. We at WANT Expeditions overcome this by continually seeking out new destinations and experiences, emphasizing on small, internationally diverse travel groups, using only local (and often family owned) business partners, practicing strong environmental conservation measures, supporting protection of cultures and traditions, discouraging hand-outs, encouraging letting go of western ideals and experiencing true cultural immersion through participation in authentic ceremonies, adhering to local dress customs, and trying traditional cuisine. In addition to all this, throughout our trips we offer educational seminars that may focus on biology, history, photography, and more.

Our People: Technical Expertise, Leadership and Passion

As any adventurer knows, your tour leader can make or break your trip. Our policy is to employ and empower those that have not just skill and talent for leading tours and interacting with our guests and locals alike, but those with the greatest passion for and expansive knowledge of biology, geology, history, and culture. Our Expedition Leaders are amongst the most experienced on Earth. Most have lived and conducted environmental or cultural projects in, or related to, their country of expertise, so they understand the environmental conditions and cultural nuances of traveling through these regions. In addition to this, our guides have many technical certifications and skills essential to expedition travel and ensuring the safety of all guests, including but not limited to Wilderness First Responder, advanced dive certifications, zodiac driving, rock-climbing, and off-road 4x4 driving. These things, combined with a great sense of humor, make them some of the best travel companions an adventurer could want. The policy also applies to our talented Office Staff behind the scenes in IT, Finance, Operations, Administration and Management. They live and breathe our expeditions and their own adventures and want to create the best travel experience for our guests as possible.

Environmental Responsibility

At WANT Expeditions, all of our staff believe whole-heartedly it is our social responsible to work hand-in-hand to empower the communities we visit to ensure that they benefit as much, if not more, from our visits as we do. Environmental conservation, responsible tourism and cultural sustainability is at the core of all of our expeditions, and for this reason, over the years we continue to generate projects, and partner with several organizations, such as the Utopia Foundation, to improve the lives of those with whom we interact while generating more authentic travel experiences than you could experience elsewhere. And, as a guest of WANT Expeditions, you play an active, direct role in improving the lives of those around you.

Pursuit of Excellence

Everyday we wake up and want to make the world a better place, so whether this is by working to ensure you as a guest have the best trip of your life, or a community half-way around the world benefits from our efforts, we at WANT Expeditions are relentless in our pursuit of Excellence. No matter if you are a guest, or a community member, we listen closely to your needs and how we can improve our services. This ethic, combined with retaining wonderful talented people, in-conjunction with itineraries like no other tour company provides, and a commitment to conservation, ensures that our guests retain the feeling that they belong to an elite, personalized travel club.
