Tour Operator
Ascoli Piceno is a picturesque town located in the region of Marche in central Italy. Just a stone’s throw away from Umbria and Abruzzo, making it the perfect location to visit all three of Italy’s regions with ease. It is filled with architectural charm, boasting a history that dates back before the inception of Rome. Once known as the city of one hundred towers, it is covered in travertine, and is home to one of the most beautiful piazza’s in Italy, Piazza del Popolo. In the evening the streets around the Piazza come alive, buzzing with energy, as friends meet-up to enjoy drinks, and the city emerges for the nightly passeggiata. Take the evening in like an Italian, enjoying an apertivo at Caffe Meletti or follow the tempting aromas to one of Ascoli’s many restaurant tables.
Ascoli is easy walkable, allowing you to relax and go back in time while you cross its amaze of tiny alleys and cobblestone streets. Unlike many of the towns of Tuscany that have been surrendered to tourism, the heart of Ascoli still beats to the rhythm of its 50,000 residents. It is big enough to support a local shopping and dining scene, but small enough to have maintained its authenticity and culinary heritage one which includes the second largest medieval representation in Italy, the Quintana, and the Famous Oliva all’Ascolana festival.
Our Italian Kitchen
Travelling a region with everything from snow-capped mountains to Blue flag beaches you will be able to have the total Italian experience, and the cuisine showcased at The Italian on Tour is no exception. From fine-dining in ancient medieval fortresses, to a relaxed evening at a family-run agriturismo, every meal, every place represents a unique niche of regional cuisine that we believe embodies the best of Italy. Although every place is exceptional on its own, every meal you have with us maintains one commonality: farm-to-table. Locally grown and freshness are not a bonus, here it is just how things are done.
The honest connection of the producer to the land and constant pursuit for quality directly translates to the food and drink. This pride in regional cuisine, respect for the land and local traditions can be tasted in all three parts of Italy visited on our tours: Marche, Abruzzo, and Umbria.
