Requirements
This trip involves trekking, walking, kayaking and cycling for up to five or six hours a day at a slow but steady pace. Introductory should never be misinterpreted to mean an easy trip. You will need a reasonable level of fitness and good health. In preparation we suggest 30 minutes of aerobic type exercise, (either cycling or jogging) three times a week for three months leading up to your trip. Also try hill walking with a daypack in variable weather conditions. Expect the climate in Cambodia to be hot and humid. If travelling during the monsoon season (see Country Information section below) rain is very likely. The cycling paths are mostly flat and we recommend that you cycle as part of your general routine prior to departure. Remember the fitter you are the more it will enhance your adventure. Specialist gear required include walking boots, cycle helmet and day pack (a comprehensive gear list is provided in the pre-departure information provided on booking). It is mandatory that you wear a helmet on all bike tours. We deliberately do not supply rental helmets because only a well-fitting helmet can offer a certain amount of protection. Cycling helmets are offered by numerous suppliers in various price and quality categories. When buying a bicycle helmet we recommend getting advice at a specialist store since finding the optimum helmet depends on quite a number of things. Avoid at all cost buying a helmet because of its looks; the main criteria should be a perfect fit. In some areas there are a limited number of helmets are available for hire but as suitability cannot be guaranteed we ask that you bring your own for the best fit and comfort,
Travel Insurance
We require that you take out a personal travel insurance policy to cover against sickness, accident, loss of baggage, unexpected alterations to travel arrangements and travel disruption, emergency evacuation, cancellations, etc. A suggested policy is enclosed with these notes. If you take out an alternative policy, we need to be advised of the details. It is your responsibility to ensure any and all pre-existing medical conditions are adequately covered by your insurer. Please note: if you choose credit card cover, in our experience, this may not insure against high cost needs. For example; helicopter emergency evacuation. If you do decide to choose credit card coverage, please check all policy details thoroughly. You should always carry your travel insurance policy, emergency card and photocopies of your passport and cash cards with you during your trip.
